BELROSE ESTATE
Southern Gippsland, VIC
Available VIC, NSW, ACT & QLD
The Belrose Vineyard is a modest 3.2 hectare plot planted in 1991 exclusively to Pinot Noir in Dunbalk, Southern Gippsland. Originally planted by Philip Jones, of Bass Philip fame, in partnership with the Les Amis restaurant group in Singapore, it was purchased in 2008 by Lana Stevanovich. Lana has a deep love for this unique wind swept site which she tends during her time away from the day job carrying out as much of the manual work as she can with a little help.
WINES
2022 Pinot Noir
2023 Pinot Noir
Early wines were produced at Bass Philip but today Lana has passed the winemaking responsibility over to Neil Harkins from The Wine Farm, while she manages the vineyard.
Perched on 2 separate hills of heavy mudstone soil, the low vigour plots have a northerly exposure for maximum sunlight, high temperature fluctuation between night and day, and good wind exposure to reduce disease pressure aiding the organic management of the vines. Lana has extended the organic management of the vineyard bringing a focus to restoring soil balance and fertility.
With the help of Neil, she has added an exceptional Pet Nat which shows the true fruit quality of this site through its transparency.
