2023 Studebaker Bianco
Pinot Grigio / Friulano. A blend of full skin ferment, partial ferment on skins and old oak ferment. Yellow straw/yellow gold with the softness a very slight cloudiness from the skins. Typical skin contact nose where fruits are threaded into the layers of savoury nuance and its expression is as one rather than its elements.
2024 Funkiosity Post Natural Pinot Noir
The Funkiosity Pinot Noir is an experimental, bottling from Moondarra, with a 2024 vintage described as a grumpy but complex Pinot from East Gippsland, featuring dark cherry, tea, and tobacco notes, with a tannic structure balanced by red fruit, hinting at natural winemaking elements. Expect rich, earthy, and slightly brooding flavours in this distinct, potentially savory, expression of Pinot Noir from Moondarra.
2018 Samba Side Pinot Noir
Soft lightly cloudy red with gentle ruby highlights. Evolved fruit notes of dried wild strawberry and cooked rhubarb, dried herbs, a hint of smoke, light savoury reduction, and a deep spice undercurrent. A light menthol tone wafting through and lightening the heavier evolved tones. A warmer, cuddlier old school aromatic expression. Richly textured. Full viscous mouthfeel with grainy tannins and tangy underlying acidity.
NV Moondarra Holly’s Garden Überbrut
Jubilant, complex apéritif style méthod Champenoise. Sparking base from Pinot Noir from Holly’s Garden vineyard. Fabulous, distinctive sparkling. No sulphur. We run a ‘solera’ of sparkling base in large old-oak, which contains wine from each vintage going back to 2OO7. This gives important complexity to the final product. Grapefruit and green strawberry on the palate. Umami sourdough and brioche type aromas. Dosage varies from O.O to 1.O g/L. Extended time before disgorgement adds richness to the wine.
2021 Old School Nebbiolo
Moondarra farm Nebbiolo aged on skins in tank for 9 months. Very pale cherry red colour with sparkling ruby highlights. What a beautiful nose; so fragrant. Powerful scent of roses, fresh and dried, with some background spice, cherry and black raspberry. The pale colour and pretty nose do not foreshadow the savoury structured palate where the variety’s other side is on display. High acid and tart red fruits on entry plus bitter amaro fruits and drying tannins are intense. Bring food.
