NV Vertus Experience Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru
The 'house' cuvée is a blend of 60% 1er Cru fruit from Vertus and 40% 1er Cru fruit from Le Mesnil, vinified in old Burgundy barrels. Usually held for 4+ years on lees before disgorgement, after which it rests for another 6 months. Dosage is 3g/L or 4 g/l. A lovely fine bead from extended lees contact. There is no oak to the nose, instead it shows roasted nuts and complex notes of yeast lees autolysis. Crisp and dry, there is a rich creamy mousse on entry, then fresh grapefruit acidity, a fine mineral thread and a drying savoury note. With a stunning balance of freshness and power, this is the perfect aperitif style to serve by the glass yet has the richness to drink all night.
Also available in 1500ml.
NV Mesnil Experience Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru
This Grand Cru Champagne is made using fruit, predominantly from the famed Les Chetillons vineyard. 85-90% is from the vintage year, produced by 70-year-old vines and the remainder is drawn from reserves. 70% of the wine is aged in used white Burgundy barrels; no malolactic fermentation. The Mesnil sees a minimum of five years on lees prior to disgorgement. Dosage usually around 3 g/l. Delicate floral notes, white flowers in particular; with a strong secondary stamp of preserved lemon, dried cream, mushrooms, and a mineral vein of wet chalk. Wonderfully savoury and focused; with intense mineral drive and long, precise lemon and grapefruit flavours. This is one complex, balanced and elegant wine that will benefit from being opened some time before drinking.
Also available in 1500ml.
NV Rosé Experience
“The only thing better than champagne is pink champagne. This deep, brooding rose champers has a sour cherry nose, with wild strawberries, raspberries, and hint of new oak. It's creamy with long, persistent, fine beads. Perfect apero, pop it for no good reason, we dare you.” - Mike Bennie
2011 Millésime Experience 1er Cru
A ‘millesime’ Champagne is produced from fruit from a single vintage, and only during years of high quality. 100% Chardonnay from the finest 50+ year old parcels in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. 100% fermented in old Burgundy oak and aged on lees for a minimum of seven years prior to disgorging. The secondary oak notes come through here on the nose with light oak spice complimenting the grilled nuts, toasted bread, chalk and mushroom complexity. The palate demonstrates a richer, softer structured style. Delicious ripe yellow fruits and creme patissiere flavours. Long fruit flavours here dominate the more reserved mineral notes. An incredibly sophisticated wine.
