2016 Beaujolais-Villages Rouge

100% Gamay. Well into his ninth vintage of this wine, Damien has had the time to perfect its style. Always harvested on the earlier side Damien’s entry Gamay cuvée always has a herbal bunchy edge to the succulent red fruits and mineral notes. The palate is juicy, clean and long, driven by a red fruit and floral core. Gentle earthy tannins add a little structure to underpin the juiciness. Delicious mineral toned natural Beaujolais.

2016 Chiroubles

From the underrated Beaujolais Cru of Chiroubles, this is fresh pure natural Gamay at its best, as per all of Damien’s wines. Lighter red fruit aromas lift up out of the glass, alongside notes of spice, citrus and the barest hints of earthiness and balsamic. The palate is carried by ripe fresh raspberry and cranberry flavours. A balancing acidity persists throughout this medium-bodied wine, and an earthy minerality drives home the long, focussed finish.

2016 Chiroubles ‘Vieilles Vignes’

Chiroubles features some of the highest altitude vineyards in Beaujolais. ‘Vielles-Vignes’ means ‘old vines’. These 40-year-old vines Gamay vines produce rich, concentrated fruit, which Damien turns into some of the best bottles of Beaujolais (in our humble opinion). Stewed red fruit aromas are present, as well as some hints at earthy undergrowth. The wine is driven by red and blue fruits on the medium body, with a satin texture mouthfeel. Structured by well-balanced acidity and fine-grained tannins. A persistent, savoury finish.

2016 Morgon 'Côte du Py' Vieilles Vignes

Sourced from vines more than 50-years-old, this classic Morgon gets the Damien Coquelet early harvest spin. Kirsch and blackberry with a fresh note of whole bunch herbal notes. More depth and granitic minerality than the regular bottling, good core of ripe fruit supported by a gentle acidity and some drying tannins on the finish.
