Beka’s Wine

Partskhma, Guria

Beso’s great-grandfather in the village was distinguished by making exceptionally good wine. However, he only made wine for family consumption. In 2011, he returned to the villagefrom the city and decided to develop his ancestors family vineyards into a family business for the future. Beso’s family helps me take care of the vines and produce wine. Regardless of their age, the children are actively involved in all the processes. They show great interest in winemaking. The name of their wine is "Beka's Wine". Beka is the name of their son. Making wine is a kind of art form for them as they press the grapes in kvevri and the whole process goes from there. The region of Guria is one of the oldest centres for winemaking. There were approximately 60 endemic varieties in Guria. Beso’s goal is to make Gurian viticulture and winemaking popular and return it to its former glory. By developing the industry, it in turn promotes tourism. Wine tourism is in high demand in Georgia, and Guria, together with its beautiful landscape, has great potential in this regard.
